From her studio in a one-hundred-year-old house she restored in the historic district of downtown Temple, Texas, Susan is creating images of the things she loves using oil and canvas. Whether it's a study of shadow and light in still life, the spirit of a cherished pet, or the calm pastoral beauty of the nearby countryside.
She is passionate about painting in the studio and Plein air. Both types of painting create a broader scope of work and experience. Commissions are a large part of her work and she loves to paint a cherished pet or beloved relative.

Current affiliations include: Outdoor Painters Society, and Professional Artists of Central Texas.
Plein Air Events: 2022 Plein Air Southwest hosted by the Outdoor Painters Society, 2021 Paint Kerrville hosted by the Center.
Susan has more than 30 years of experience in graphic design, print design, photography, prepress, and web editing. Her strengths include understanding a client's business goals, personal values, and budget to translate and convert information into a successful final product that leads to a return of investment for her clients.
Family is a major part of Susan's life as she has been busy this year taking care of her brother and Mom, age 87. Her brother who has been a major influencer in her life's journey passed away in August of 2021. He was a quadriplegic for more than 40 years and was an example of perseverance and strength. www.MarkSterle.com
Whenever she has a chance, you will find her enjoying nature, painting outdoors, biking, fishing, kayaking, or simply enjoying playtime with her miniature dachshund, Sophie, all the time scouting for the perfect location for her next Plein Air Creation.
