SUMMARY:Charles Wallis @ Cultivate 7Twelve
DESCRIPTION:Award-winning  Central Texas artist Charles Wallis promises to connect emotion to color and music in his upcoming solo art show “Celebrating Primary Colors & Emotions\,” which opens Friday\, September 1\, 2023\, at Cultivate 7Twelve in Waco with the reception from 6:00 – 9:00pm. The September 1st opening reception in itself will be a unique experience. The special event will celebrate primary colors. Attendees are encouraged to dress in primary-colored attire and will enjoy red\, blue\, and yellow-inspired hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. Native American flute specialist Sandi Horton will compliment Wallis’ collection with original music. After Wallis talks about each painting\, Horton’s compositions will add to the emotional experience. \n“Celebrating Primary Colors & Emotions” will include paintings that express intense passion\, bliss\, jealousy\, anxiety\, and exuberance. The collection will also include abstracts with primary colors. Red\, blue\, and yellow hues are called primary because they cannot be made with mixtures of other pigments. “Despite the portrayal of old photographs\, color has and always will be all around us\,” said Wallis. “It is only natural for people to form attachments and emotions towards things as we go about life and link certain events\, things\, or colors to emotions and experiences.” Wallis said he would complete the series using color and abstracted images to express a collection of divergent feelings and emotions all people may have experienced. “Over time\, these colors associated with emotions became essential to companies\, designers\, and artists to evoke certain feelings when people perceive their brand or designs\,” said Wallis. “It is important to note that color emotions are a very personal and subjective experience\, and not every single person’s connection to a certain color will be the same.” \nExhibit Opening Reception and Show Details\n“Celebrating Primary Emotions & Colors” Art Show by Charles Wallis\nNative American flute artistry by Sandi Horton with original compositions\nOpening Reception September 1\, 2023 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.\nCultivate 7Twelve\n712 Austin Ave\, Waco\, TX 76701\n(254) 401-1443\nFree to the pubic\nnibbles and beverages\neveryone is encourage to wear red\, blue\, yellow or black and white\nExhibit remains open Monday – Saturday\, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. through September 29\, 2023\nExhibit Closing Reception and Details\n6:00-9:00 pm reception\n6:00-7:00 Frank Exum Classical Guitar\n7:00-8:00- pm Artist talk about the creations of the Emotions Series\nand flutist discussion of how she created the music to go with the art\nnibbles and beverages\nFree to the public\nCultivate 7Twelve \nAbout Charles Wallis\nCharles is a classically trained master painter with a degree in art from Baylor University.
