KRISTIN LARSON
Artist Statement
“I am a contemporary artist based in Central Texas. I create impressionistic landscape paintings inspired by the peaceful and quiet beauty of the natural world. I work primarily with soft pastel on sanded paper, being drawn to the combination’s color purity, richness, immediacy, and ability to capture subtle textures. I paint with a desire to reflect the beauty of creation and point to the glory of the Creator.
My work is deeply influenced by the landscapes of Central Texas — expansive skies, open prairies, tranquil waters; and their gentle rhythms revealed by changing light and atmosphere. Through my work, I hope viewers are drawn into a sense of calm, connection, and a quiet awe of creation.”

Background & Bio
Kristin Larson attended Longwood University in central Virginia on scholarship for art, and there earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with Magna Cum Laude honors. During these formative college studies Kristin grew a lasting passion for creative expression through fine art.
After graduating, Kristin worked for a number of years as a graphic designer in the corporate world. There, she built a strong foundation in visual communication, composition, and design, and garnered valuable real-world experiences, including as lead graphic designer for a regional sporting goods chain.
Eventually, her life shifted toward raising a family, and while Kristin left the corporate world, her passion for art persisted. She continued creating as a freelance designer, selling her artwork in the margins of motherhood.
During a five-year period while living in the San Francisco Bay Area, Kristin recommitted to a consistent art practice. The region’s natural beauty and varied landscapes played a significant role in shaping her artistic direction and deepening her engagement with landscape painting.
A few years later, Kristin relocated to Central Texas, where she found fresh inspiration in the breath-taking skies, prairie land, and wide-open views. These environments now serve as a primary source of influence, offering a sense of openness, stillness, and connection that continues to inform her work.
Kristin enjoys outdoor activities, including hiking, camping, and biking. As a result, over the years, she has spent countless hours outdoors, where she finds a connection to nature that offers peace, a sense of connection with God, and inspiration for her art.
