LINDA WILLIAMS FILGO

Artist Statement

“In my artwork, I express my connection and impressions of a person, objects, or a scene. Before the painting or drawing is finished, I find myself in a closer, almost spiritual, relationship with that person or place. That association to some degree forever changes me. It is my hope that the viewer of my art will relate to and be affected by those impressions.”

Background & Bio

A lifetime filled with the love and joy of art…

A fifth-generation Texan, Linda began drawing at a very early age, determined to keep up with the boys drawing their aircraft battles. For 25 years, she was a designer, illustrator, art director and managing editor, in the advertising, fashion, health education and publishing industries. Eventually Linda gleefully abandoned commercial art to devote herself to her true loves, painting and drawing. She studied with nationally known artists: Frederic Mizen at Baylor University, Samuel Shelton at MCC, and workshops with Michael Albrechtson, Tony Eubanks, George Hallmark, Bruce Greene, Martin Grelle, Kay Polk, Jerral Derryberry, Andy Thomas, Nancy Boren, V. Vaughan and Kathy Tate. With exposure to each of these gifted teachers, Linda’s art has evolved into her own unique style of joyful expression.

Linda has been juried into the prestigious Bosque Art Classic and several local and regional art shows, as well as galleries; she has won Best of Show, First and Second Place in a number of exhibits and competitions. An active member of PACT (Professional Artists of Central Texas), Linda lives in Waco, Texas, near her childhood home, beloved grandchildren and a colony of feral cats.
